Welcome to the Mainland Retired Teachers Association's official website!  We are active and involved retired educators who meet monthly.  Meet up with friends and make new ones.  Here, you'll find the latest updates, meeting information, pictures, and news about our group. The Mainland Retired Teachers Association was established in May of 1972, with Ann Covey as the first president of the eight original members.  MRTA has over 150 members, and is one of twenty-three chapters in District 4 of Texas Retired Teachers Association.  Members consist of retirees from Texas City, LaMarque, Hitchcock, Santa Fe, Dickinson, and surrounding areas.

The purpose of MRTA is:

1. to keep members informed about the current and future issues affecting retired educators

2. to continue encouraging retired school personnel to volunteer their time in schools and the community
